The Homeland Security Department has launched a new IT platform that simplifies and accelerates its recruiting and hiring activities. The agency touts the tool, called TalentLink, as a means to help subcomponent agencies reduce their time to hire, improve the quality of
candidate referrals and better manage and onboard new staff. The tool also uses electronic routing and approvals, automates the rating and ranking process and standardizes vacancy announcements using plain language.
For internal and external job applicants, the Web-based tool also provides a job portal to search and apply for DHS jobs and automatically generates correspondence to keep applicants informed and engaged throughout the federal hiring process.
The Office of Management and Budget in June sent out a memorandum for agencies to begin mapping their hiring processes and writing plain-language job descriptions for their 10 most prevalent positions by Sept. 30. Final reports are due on Dec. 15. DHS says the TalentLink program puts it
ahead of the curve on meeting the new requirements.
Thus far, DHS headquarters and the Federal Emergency Management Agency have deployed the new system., an agency spokesman said.

On August 10, 1010, Jeffrey Neal went on record in stating that Taleo talent technology is not suitable for the federal hiring process?
He said "The problem wasn't with the underlying software company," he said. "The company made a good product, but it was a product that wasn't designed for the federal hiring process."

This is just for practice, so that they are ready to take over health care.

I am a taxpayer and the federal government works for ME. The federal government is one employer, why do they need so many different "IT platforms" for hiring? Why should I, the taxpayer, have to recreate my resume, over-and-over-and-over again, just to apply for more than one federal government job? OPM says on the USAJOBS site " The USAJOBS Resume Builder allows you to create one uniform resume that provides all of the information required by government agencies. Instead of creating multiple resumes in different formats, you can build your resume once and be ready for all job opportunities." That great but the new, better, improved TalentLink doesn't use it!

TL would be better than manual Staffing, if it actually worked! I bet we have paid the program seller and our contractors MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, just so that the program will do HALF of what it was supposed to do. I used to use AvueTech and the OPM program and thought that they was too basic. I would take USASTAFFING in a heartbeat. TL is best described as a dumb blonde, pretty but not very useful.

This is such great news. I'm so excited to see DHS roll out such a wonderful system. Finally, they will have something that us job seekers can use our USAJOBS account to apply to DHS vacancies. That is how it will work right? I mean, the other day I tried to apply and the system was requiring me to great another profile.
Oh well. I'll go try again. Hey, does anyone know ifit will work with my JAWS screen reader?
