Telework Exchange conducted a Webinar on Wednesday that looked at some telework best practices at federal agencies. Representatives from the Patent and Trademark Office, the Defense Information Systems Agency, the Virginia state government and Cisco each provided advice on the keys to a successful telework program, including how to measure its effectiveness.
Common themes included creating solid performance management practices, facilitating ongoing and effective communication, ensuring IT security, providing training to supervisors and employees, and measuring the results of participation and productivity.
Meanwhile, Alyssa Rosenberg's Pay & Benefits Watch column this week highlights the importance of establishing rules in ensuring a successful telework program.

The work world is changing. The traditional 9-5, 40 hour a week @ an employer’s location worker is changing and may soon be a thing of the past. The new world of work will feature workers who can work anywhere and be more effective and be more cost effective for the employer than the traditional worker. The employer will benefit as much as the employee and production and creativity will be enhanced. The only risk I see the challenge of embracing change!
