Modernizing the federal government's retirement system, including moving from paper to electronic records, has long been a priority of the Office of Personnel Management. But as I reported back in 2008, modernizing the system has not been without its challenges.

Alex Parker writes at Government Executive that OPM is moving quickly to fix glitches within the current system while also working towards the creation of new electronic retirement system. OPM's assurances come in response to a Feb. 2 letter sent by Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., that raised concerns about delayed efforts to modernize the retirement information system.
